PRAGUE –– No longer a laughing stock, the Czech Republic’s biggest car maker Skoda Auto has become a profit-producing driving force for owner Volkswagen, with a strategic mission to open up new markets in Russia, China and India.
Skoda, which Volkswagen bought into in 1991, announced record net profits of 11.06 billion koruna (392 million euros, 515 million dollars) for 2006 last week, an increase of 40 percent on the previous year.
Car production surged 12.6 percent to a record 556,347 with deliveries up 11.7 percent and overall sales climbing 8.7 percent to 203.7 billion koruna. This year, the company expects to produce more than 600,000 cars.
“Skoda is an extremely profitable part of the (Volkswagen) group,” stressed Marc-Rene Tonn, an analyst with German bank MM Warburg and Co, adding that about one in every 10 Volkswagen Group cars was produced in the Czech Republic in 2005.
“Volkswagen will rely heavily on Audi and Skoda during this current period,” echoed Stephen Pope, a London-based analyst with financial services group Cantor Fitzgerald Europe.
The German parent company is struggling with an ageing range of models and a lack of new launches to reinvigorate it, Pope explained.
“The whole image of Skoda has changed. It is no longer taken as a joke and is now seen as a pure derivative of Volkswagen, but much more reasonably priced,” Pope added, summing up the distance travelled under Volkswagen management during the last 15 years.
Volkswagen resisted the immediate temptation to scrap the Skoda brand name in spite of its disastrous image in western Europe, undermined by jokes such as “what do you call a Skoda with a sunroof? A skip.”
Or “how do you double the value of a Skoda? Fill it up with petrol.”
Instead, it turned the company into its flagship producer of reasonably priced reliable cars which do not damage Volkwagen’s attempts to target a more “prestige” market, Tonn explained.
Skoda is now being steered into becoming Volkswagen Group’s low-cost spearhead into the booming economies of Russia, India, and China, he added.
“Skoda will be the designated as the entry level car with the premium part of the market left for Volkswagen,” he said.
Skoda boss Detlef Wittig announced last week the company’s goal of producing a low-cost car for the Asian market, adding that the most interesting future markets were India, China and Russia.
Skoda’s low-cost Fabia and top-of-the-range Superb are to be produced in the future in China under a deal with its local partner Shanghai Volkswagen, which launches production of the mid-range Octavia model this year.
The Czech company already has car assembly and production projects in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Russia, Bosnia and India.
The mid-range Roomster completes Skoda’s current four-model range with preparations being made for the launch of the three-door sporty vehicle known as the Skoda Joyster, which is to be aimed at the youth market.
More and more gas stations are shifting toward self-service. If you’ve been reluctant to abandon the luxury of the full-service lane, chances are that it’s going to get more and more difficult to find one. Knowing how to fill ‘er up yourself not only prevents you from being stranded with an empty tank when there’s no one available to fill it for you, but it also saves you money on every gallon, every time.
Always extinguish your cigarette before you start to pump gasoline. If the flame comes in contact with gasoline fumes, it can cause an explosion.
HONDA IS DITCHING plans to make aJazz hybrid so it can concentrate on a larger hybrid saloon model, which will directly fight Toyota's Prius. The new model, to be launched in 2009, will be similar to the Prius in size, performance and mechanical layout. Until the new model is ready, the Civic hybrid will continue in Europe.
MASERATI IS trying to change the image of its products from 'exotic' to 'premium luxury'. Despite strong sales for the £55,000 Coupe and the £75,000 Quattroporte saloon, research by the company shows many potential buyers still think the cars are in the Ferrari/Aston league, around £50,000 more expensive.
MITSUBISHI UK is still deciding whether to import the new Evo IX MR (below) to this country, because it is so similar to the previous model. The company "will probably take a small number" during 2007, says a spokesman.
PORSCHE BOSS Wendelin Wiedeking has reignited controversy over his company's recent acquisition of a 21.2 per cent stake in Volkswagen Group - a move some financial pundits thought unwise - by insisting his company wants "to exercise our full rights as a shareholder". In theory, Porsche now outvotes VW's previous largest shareholder, the government of the state of Lower Saxony.
TOYOTA'S DECISION to launch Lexus at home isn't bearing fruit so far. The cars went into Japanese showrooms in the second half of 2005, but press reports say sales so far are only about 40 per cent of expectations. Sales in the first six months were 11,000 units -less than half the number ofBMWs sold in Japan.
What do Chrysler Group President Tom LaSorda, left, and DaimlerChrysler Chairman Dieter Zetsche have in mind?
DETROIT - Speculation abounds about Chrysler's fate.
General Motors may buy it. GM may buy part of it. GM wants an "alliance" with it. Renault-Nissan might be interested in buying it. Parent DaimlerChyrsler might spin it off as a separate company. Or a private equity group might buy it.
And this one from John Casesa, managing partner of Casesa Strategic Advisors in New York: "The Chinese are the dark horse."
The rumors began Wednesday after DaimlerChrysler Chairman Dieter Zetsche, in announcing a turnaround plan that includes 13,000 Chrysler layoffs, stunned the auto world when he refused to rule out selling Chrysler Group.
"Our thinking does not exclude any options," he said. "This means all options are on the table."
Investors salivated at the menu of possibilities for money-losing Chrysler, driving DaimlerChrysler's stock up 12 percent since Wednesday to a Friday close of $73.33 on the New York Stock Exchange.
"Why is the stock up? It's certainly not the restructuring plan," said analyst Bradley Rubin of BNP Paribas. "I think it's the speculation they're going to spin off Chrysler or sell it or something."
Let's consider the possibilities:
GM is in talks to buy Chrysler Group. That's what trade publication Automotive News reported Friday.
"It's the rumor of the day, or the week," Chrysler Group spokesman Mike Aberlich said. "It's just speculation and we're not going to comment on speculation."
But neither company would deny that talks were taking place, either.
"We've said on many occasions that conversations throughout the auto industry happen all the time," said GM spokesman Tony Cervone. "And those conversations very often lead to nothing."
By acquiring Chrysler, which builds more than 2.5 million vehicles a year, GM would put a stop to talk that it is about to be overtaken as the world's largest automaker by Japanese juggernaut Toyota Motor Corp., noted Tom Libby of J.D. Power & Associates. "It's not a good business reason, but pride is a powerful thing," he said.
Lincoln Merrihew, a Boston-based analyst at market research firm TNS, agreed.
"There's that corporate psyche, and it would be very painful for the people at GM to see their company fall from being No. 1," said Merrihew, adding that potential savings in engineering, design and purchasing made a tie-up worth exploring.
Libby said that if DaimlerChrysler wanted to unload Chrysler Group badly enough, a fire-sale price "could be so low GM just can't say no."
Daimler-Benz paid $36 billion in 1998 to acquire Chrysler Corp., combining the two companies into the new DaimlerChrysler. It was bet that didn't pay off. Analyst Ron Tadross of Banc of America Securities valued today's Chrysler Group at $5 billion. John Novak, automotive analyst at Morningstar Inc. said he believed $10 billion to $20 billion would be more realistic.
David Cole, chairman of the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor, doubts an acquisition would take place. But he said the major issue of pension and health care liabilities for unionized retirees could be addressed if the companies combined.
GM and Chrysler could reach a settlement with the United Auto Workers union similar to what Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. reached with the United Steelworkers union. Goodyear got rid of its liabilities by paying $1 billion into a union-run trust fund.
"If you fold their legacy costs together," Cole said, "you might be able to save enough on your long-term contingent liabilities on health care and pensions to pay for the whole thing."
"The blind leading the blind" is how Shelly Lombard of Gimme Credit characterized the idea of GM buying Chrysler.
The Philadelphia-based corporate credit analyst, in a note to clients, wrote that GM remained immersed in a difficult recovery effort after losing $10.6 billon in 2005. Chrysler, which reported a net loss of $1.5 billion last year, is beset by many of the same challenges posed by slumping sales and rising employee and retiree benefit and health-care costs.
"Maybe there are potential synergies and cost savings," Lombard wrote. "But so much of GM's problem is related to legacy costs, and we don't see how a merger would fix a problem that needs to be addressed during union negotiations."
"Anything's possible, but this one seems unlikely," said John Casesa, a longtime auto analyst and managing partner of New York-based Casesa Strategic Advisors.
"It would increase exponentially the challenges GM faces in turning around the company. These two companies have an immense amount of overlap in people, plants, dealers and products, and there'll be very considerable cost in working through all that."
GM and Chrysler could enter an "alliance." That's what the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News and the New York Times said Friday.
Bloomberg said alliance discussions, which began about a month ago, may allow the two automakers to share chassis designs and reduce development costs, quoting sources who asked not to be identified.
"With the Chrysler Group losing money and looking for alternatives to save development costs, joint ventures, technology sharing with GM and some of the other auto companies might make a lot of sense," said Burnham Securities analyst David Healy.
"GM has a lot Chrysler could gain from because they have the more modern technology," said John Wolkonowicz, an analyst at Global Insight in Lexington, Mass. "I see GM as the stronger partner in any discussions."
"A potential alliance between the two carmakers could be sensible if it is focused in selected product or technology areas," JPMorgan Securities analyst Himanshu Patel wrote in a report Friday. "A sweeping alliance between the two (Renault-Nissan style), however, would seem to benefit Chrysler much more than GM" because of GM's larger size.
If talks resulted in a tie-up, it may not improve the competitive position of either GM or Chrysler, said Novak of Morningstar. "Technology-sharing alliances happen in this industry all the time," he said. "Chrysler could benefit from GM's expertise in engine and powertrain development, but it alone is not enough to save GM or Chrysler."
DaimlerChrysler already has intertwined its Mercedes operation with Chrysler to the point where it would be difficult for the companies to separate, said Kevin Reale, an AMR Research Inc. automotive analyst.
"If you stand back and look at the monies and whatnot that DaimlerChrysler is investing in Chrysler overall, and the level of reuse in architecture and parts you're seeing, I find it very difficult for it to be more than just a rumor right now," Reale said.
Other possibilities.
Carlos Ghosn, chairman of Renault SA and Nissan Motor Co., has said repeatedly that he eventually would like a North American partner, after GM and Ford Motor Co. rebuffed him on an alliance. Yet Ghosn said on Feb. 8 that expanding his French-Japanese alliance now "would be dangerous" because he's focused on restructuring Renault.
"For the moment we have no comment," said Sophie Perrier, a spokeswoman for Renault.
Shanghai Automotive Co., the publicly traded unit of China's largest automaker, might also be among carmakers big enough to buy Chrysler, Casesa said. Shanghai Automotive has joint ventures with GM and Volkswagen AG and in January unveiled the first vehicles under its own brand.
DaimlerChrysler should sell Chrysler's Dodge and Chrysler brands and keep Jeep, said Stephen Pope, head of equity research at Cantor Fitzgerald in London.
Pete Hastings, a fixed-income analyst at Morgan Keegan & Co. in Memphis, Tenn., said he doubts Chrysler would find an automaker partner and believes "a private-equity consortium would be a more likely buyer."
Private-equity buyers already are buying and bidding on makers of auto parts such as steering wheels, seats and carpet, he noted.
And the new Volvo V70 wagon does just that with several advances in braking technology.
# Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA) boosts brake pressure hydraulically (Volvo's previous system was based only on vacuum pressure) to ensure antilock brake operation is most effective. # Optimized Hydraulic Brakes (OHB), for hard braking, compensate for low vacuum pressure in the brake servo.
# Ready Alert Brakes (RAB) predict rapid braking from release of the gas pedal (or the adaptive cruise control detecting an object ahead), applying the brake pads against the discs even before the driver presses the pedal.
# Fading Brake Support (FBS) builds braking hydraulic pressure during long, hard braking, thus cutting fading and loss of pedal feel.
Looks like Volvo has just shrunk the stopping "dime."

Certificate of Deposit rates are an investment opportunity to generate long-term stable profits for non-risk takers. CDs are usually fixed rate which means user has to agree on the interest rates with the bank before investing the amount with them and the rate of CD remains constant until CD matures.
The best savings accounts are the ones that provide good bank interest rates. CDs are safe investments compared to other relative investment opportunities like stocks, off shore investment, mutual funds etc. Banking institutions offer low stable plans with very low risk. One important thing about CDs is that you can't withdraw your money/investment before your CD matures. If you do so bank charges you with a penalty as per rules of that bank. So that could be the amount deducted from your profit.
The best money market rates generate high profits with a little more risk then small term CD plan. Investment with smaller banks give you the opportunity to generate high profit because of the policy of such banks as they want to attract more and more people towards them. But one should be careful with such investments as any thing can happen.
You are given the choice at the time of your CD rates maturity that you can either reinvest the amount or just withdraw money and go home. Reinvesting is something that gives more benefits with a little high risk. One can get maximum profits with reinvesting after maturity. If you don't take any action at the time of maturity of your CD then bank automatically invest your amount in the same CD plan so you have to be a little more careful in your decisions what to do? If you plan to keep on reinvesting till you reach maximum profit that could be a good move but you should be aware of the facts and CD rates so that you don't lose any money.

Audi is the market leader for four-wheel drive in the premium segment One in three Audi models is fitted with quattro four-wheel drive: in 2006 Audi recorded an all-time highest quattro installation rate of 33.1 percent. Having produced a total of 306,318 quattro vehicles in 2006 (2005: 219,288), the Ingolstadt-based car manufacturer has now risen to become the market leader for four-wheel drive in the premium segment. According to Audi boss Rupert Stadler: “quattro means more than traction – the word represents emotion, driving safety and performance, it stands for engineering competence and a dynamic spirit. Over 2.3 million quattro models have rolled off the production line at Audi so far – a figure that speaks for itself.”
The launch of the new Audi Q7 played a major role in the rise in the proportion of quattro models by six percentage points compared to the previous year. In total 72,188 of the sports utility vehicles, which are 100-percent four-wheel drive, were produced in 2006. Production of the RS 4 model family was also well up on the previous year at 7,639 units (2005: 569).
“Audi equips a greater proportion of its vehicles with four-wheel drive than any other manufacturer”, said Ralph Weyler, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing and Sales. “That is especially true of our saloons and Avant models. We have the unique selling proposition that all of the models in our current range are available with four-wheel drive.”
Italian Batmobile: HAMANN Ferrari 599 GTB with 673 bhp
Ferrari and HAMANN - a combination to set the pulse racing of all fans of Italian sports cars. The vehicle tuning specialist from Laupheim, Germany, has various new details and a power boost up its sleeve for the latest model from the Maranello stable. The power is produced by fitting an HAMANN high-performance sports header (export only), including racing catalytic converters, to generate an extra 39 kW/53 bhp. This takes the peak power output of this 6 l V12 engine, already familiar to us from the Ferrari Enzo, up to a majestic 673 bhp. You will rarely encounter more power than this on the open road. As a result, HAMANN has reduced the power-to-weight ratio from 2.5 to 2.3 kg per bhp.
To ensure that everyone knows that the King of the Road is about to arrive, HAMANN fits a sports rear muffler (export only) with 90 mm tailpipes both right and left. Needless to say, the rear silencer is made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel and generates an even more awe-inspiring sound than its series production counterpart.
In the series production version, the twelve-cylinder Berlinetta already sports a captivatingly and delicately swung body. HAMANN adds a few new touches of its own to this body designed by star designer Pininfarina. For instance, HAMANN styles the "face" of this front mid-engined sports car with a spoiler, which generates greater downforce on the front axle. To match this perfectly fitting component, which blends harmoniously into the vehicle styling, HAMANN also offers side sill panels, lending the 599 GTB a significantly more muscular appearance. The roof is adorned with a further spoiler, which in turn guides the air to an extravagantly designed rear wing. The latter generates downforce on the rear axle and stabilizes the Ferrari at high speeds.
Since the 599 GTB is conceptually a race car for the road, HAMANN decided to equip the rear end of this Italian muscle car with a three-piece diffuser that matches the rest of the technology. In conjunction with the rear wing, and true to the principle of "a beautiful rear can also endear", the HAMANN aerodynamics tuning suite shows its best side. In fact, the 599 GTB tuned and styled the HAMANN way is truly a sight to behold from all sides.
HAMANN lands a perfect hit with the aerodynamics, which do nothing to disrupt the original design, but lend added impact to a number of details in striking style. Batman would certainly choose the HAMANN Ferrari 599 GTB as the car he drives to work in. All aerodynamic components are available in fiber glass or Carbon-Kevlar.
HAMANN has opted for its own creation for the rims, called "Edition Race". This three-piece, ultra-light, forged rim in a cross-spoke design and a black spider is notable for its nine main branching spokes each of which splits into two further spokes. In addition to the exciting design, the titanium wheel bolts are a particularly eye-catching feature. The stylish appearance is topped off by the mirror-finished rim flange. Needless to say, HAMANN also offers the wheels as complete sets.
Typical wheel/tire combination: front 9.0 J x 21 / rear 12.0 J x 21 - 245/30 ZR 21 / 345/25 ZR21
On the inside, an exclusive set of floor mats in black lend the cockpit of this Ferrari a cozier touch. And of course HAMANN will gladly customize any 599 GTB to suit a customer's own individual needs. Extravagant leather upholsteries in various colors are available, as are extensive multimedia conversions featuring a DVD player, TV reception and a PlayStation.
Driving Test in Ireland… What You Need to Know About the Inside of Your Car for Success
The inner workings of your car that you are required to know for the Irish Driving Test can be split up into two sections, actually three. They are as follows:
Technical Checks under the Bonnet.Technical Checks both inside and outside of the Car.
Secondary Controls.
Technical Checks under the Bonnet or Hood
1. Identify Oil Dipstick and demonstrate how to check the correct oil.
2. Identify Coolant reservoir and demonstrate how to check correct level.
3. Identify Screen wash reservoir and demonstrate how to check correct level.
4. Identify Power Steering Reservoir (if fitted) and demonstrate how to check correct level.
5. Identify Brake Fluid Reservoir and demonstrate how to check correct level.
Technical Checks Inside and Outside the Car.
1. Demonstrate how you would check the Brake Lights when on your own.
2. Demonstrate the three checks you would perform on a Tyre to ensure it was safe and legal.
3. Demonstrate how you would check the Brakes for correct operation.
4. Demonstrate how you would check the Handbrake for correct operation.
5. Demonstrate how you would check that the Power Steering was operational.
Secondary Controls Checks.
1. All Lights Headlights and Indicators including Fog lights.
2. Heater and Demister controls.
3. Wiper and Screenwash controls front and rear.
4. Electric Mirrors and any other Electrically operated equipment such as Driver and Passenger Windows.
As you can see the list is extensive but not rocket science once you have been guided by your Instructor. While the under the Bonnet (hood) equipment is standard kit in every new car there will still be some older cars without some of the more recent innovations. In addition the location and identification of this equipment is often different in certain makes and models.
If you have changed your car before the Driving Test it is essential you take some time to familiarize yourself with the equipment in your car. A valuable mark can be thrown away by not being able to answer these Technical Checks adequately. Eight grade two faults throughout the Test will get you through …JUST… but nine or more will lead to a fail.
Any Driving Instructor worth his or her salt will have gone through these checks on day one (weather permitting) so that you will not have an avalanche of things to remember on the day of the Driving Test.
Why no answers? Well you tell me. Driving a car is not the same as steering a Supermarket Trolley and throwing in a few packets of pasta while on the way to the Checkout. It requires commitment and action on your part to both drive safely and to pass the Irish Driving Test. I am sure you can find a way to come by the answers. Can you read?
One tip I will give you is that many non European Cars have no colour identifying marks for the equipment you need to recognize so if you leave it to the last minute before becoming totally familiar with your kit you will come unstuck…period.
Some cars have a hydraulic strut to support the Bonnet (hood) which is very convenient others have the traditional bar which has to be put in place before the bonnet is secure.
Any fiddling around with these items and hesitant answers to the questions will show the Examiner immediately that you have not taken the trouble to learn what are vital and essential skills in running and driving a car. You will already be trying to climb a mountain that was just a hill a few minutes previously.
You will not read one article about the Chevrolet Volt Concept that doesn't somehow reference the movie Who Killed the Electric Car?. For those of you that wonder why every article about the Volt will name-check that documentary, it's because the film boldly claims that it was GM that killed the electric car, and not Professor Plum in the Kitchen with the candlestick. Well, that and the fact that the Volt Concept is being touted as the General's all-new electric vehicle. We don't want to be left out of the movie-related hype, so consider this intro paragraph to be our way of capitalizing on someone else's hard work.
But it's unfair to call the Volt an electric vehicle, as the Cobalt-sized concept can also be called a gas/electric hybrid. The big difference between the Volt and a vehicle like the Prius is the fact that the Volt can travel up to 40 miles on electric power alone. The Chevrolet Volt is what is referred to as a "plug-in" electric vehicle. To recharge the Volt, owners can plug the car in to a standard 110 volt household power outlet. Yeah, it takes about six hours to fully recharge the Volt, but you won't notice that "lost" time if you recharge the car while you sleep.
People that want to drive further than 40 miles will have to make use of the Volt's 3-cylinder 1-liter E85-ethanol engine. Unlike traditional gas/electric hybrids, the 3-cylinder E85 engine is designed to run as a generator that recharges the electric motor's batteries. So while the Volt does burn gas, the car technically gets its power from only electricity. Even when the gas engine is recharging the electric motor, the Volt is still able to achieve fuel economy in the triple-digit range (GM claims that 150 miles per gallon is possible) and have a total driving range of over 640 miles. That's pretty damn impressive.
GM knows that it's a good idea to produce vehicles that are environmentally-friendly in ways that extend beyond just what comes out of the vehicles' tailpipes. Many of this concept's panels are made out of an easily-recyclable composite material, meaning that even if/when the vehicle is scrapped, its impact on the Earth will still be small.
Though a "compact" car built with "environmentally-friendly " materials, the Volt doesn't look like a tree-hugging hippie's wet dream. Dare we say it, but we can see quite a bit of the Camaro concept in the Volt's shell - especially in the front end and blistered fenders. We also like the way Chevy was able to give the car a really high beltline and "squished" cabin without punishing occupants with limited outward visibility. Take a closer look at the doors; the "glass" goes way past the beltline and into the doors themselves. Chevy says that this "door glass" is a high-tech scratch-resistant plastic composite that has the appearance of traditional glass. The Volt's roof is also made up of this glass-like plastic composite.
As with all concept cars, the interior of the Volt is designed to appeal to the "smart, urban driver". However, unlike most "out-there" future rides, the technology in the Volt is all current-gen or near-future tech. That means that we can see some of the Volt's interior features make their way to production vehicles in the next couple of years.
Most of the Volt's interior is made up of light and recyclable composite panels, but that's not the interesting part of this Chevy's cockpit. To quote GM, the Volt's "compression-molded foam with a textile-patterned surface layer is applied on the entire lower instrument panel, lower door trim panels and rear quarter trim areas." This is interesting as the press release goes on to say that this material is, " used in some of the latest luggage designs."
Why do we mention that the Volt has an interior made out of luggage? Get a closer look at the dash and door side pockets; these things open and close with a zipper. Granted, it's a high-tech "zipper", but it's still a zipper nonetheless.
As cool as high-tech zippers are, the Volt's dash has a high-tech gauge cluster whose coolness is only rivaled by the one found in the Saab Aero X. This "two-tier" gauge cluster uses futuristic-looking analog displays to convey "traditional" information about the car (such as speed, etc.). But the cool part of this information center is the gauge that gives the driver the 411 on the Volt's advanced propulsion system.
The Volt's "power" gauge uses invisible, fluorescent inks to create animated "holographic-like" displays for the driver. We think that it shares a bit of that "altimeter" feel found in the Saab Aero X concept (which is in the GM family for those of you not in the know...) Consider the Volt's "power" display to be a very cool version of the "power monitor" found in the Prius. If this really is "near-future" technology, we certainly hope that GM puts it into a production car soon.
While the Volt is just a concept, experts say that GM's propulsion technology can make it into production vehicles by 2010. That's just three years away! We're old, so those three years of waiting will fly by as if they're nothing. Naza Kia Sdn Bhd has unveiled plans to introduce natural gas vehicles (NGVs) in a bid to offer Malaysian fleet buyers and commercial users an alternative to petrol-based vehicles.
Naza Automotive Manufacturing Sdn Bhd manager Mohamad Shalan Hassan said the company had spent the last six months developing prototype variants of the Naza Ria and Naza Citra – dubbed NGV Naza Ria and NGV Naza Citra.
Tanked up .. what the rear internals of the NGV Naza Ria and NGV Naza Citra look like. “We want to provide an alternative given the rise in fuel prices,” he told reporters at a briefing yesterday.
Shalan said the new offering would appeal to taxi operators and private consumers given the cost savings from the use of natural gas.
The NGV models, he said, would be available once customer demand had been determined. Final specifications and pricing of the new models were not disclosed during the briefing.
Shalan added that the establishment of more NGV stations by Petronas and tax incentives for such vehicles would generate demand for the new models.
Talks with Petronas, he added, revealed that the company would set up about 200 NGV stations by 2008 from 41 at present.
The on-the-road prices for the Ria SE and GS versions are RM105,555 and RM99,975 respectively, while the Citra GS and GLS are tagged at RM77,781.20 and RM82,794 respectively.
Naza Group's manufacturing plant in Gurun, Kedah produces the Ria, Spectra, Citra, Pregio, Sorento and 206 Bestari.

Do you know there's so many types of furniture?
This is a great years for me. After all this years of hardworking now I am able to own my own house. I’ve been working hard all this time just to get my dream house. Me and my wife has never been happier since our baby girl came to our life. At first I thought getting the house is the hardest part, yet now I have to faced a new problems already. Its how should I get the perfect furniture for my house?
We all knew that in this matter, woman always want to be in charge for it. They will be the judged in what to buy and where to put it. It’s funny when my wife and my daughter always argue about where to place the furniture. As for me, sigh! to them I am merely the source of money to buy those things. My wife specifically told me she want a pine furniture for the dining room. I have no idea that it's hard to buy furniture for the house, they seem to know all details about it. Even she told me she want an oak furniture for our bedroom. And here I was thinking that there’s only one types of furniture and that is.....…furniture.
Things are different with my daughter. She want her bedroom furniture to be pink in color. I might as well get her rooms decorate in a powerpuff girls theme. That might be fun right?
This week will be a very tiring and busy for me. With all the shopping, let us put aside all the precious time that will be wasted on window shopping. I miss my bed already.
